چکیده

McCormick, Katherine. M. S., Purdue University, May 2014. Impact of antimicrobials with or without the addition of phytase on phosphorus digestibility and utilization in swine and broiler chickens. Major Professor: Dr. Olayiwola Adeola. Three studies were conducted for this thesis. In study 1, effects of antimicrobials on nutrient digestibility and retention of 18 to 20-kg pigs was investigated. The study used a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with 4 treatments and 6 replicate pigs in individual metabolism crates per treatment. The four treatments consisted of, negative control (NC) devoid of antimicrobials with 0.41% total P and 0.71% Ca, NC with 55 mg/kg carbadox (Mecadox 10, Phibro Animal Health), 44 mg/kg tylosin (Tylan 40, Elanco Animal Health), and 11 mg/kg virginiamycin (Stafac 20, Phibro Animal Health). A 5-d total collection period with chromic oxide used as an initiation and termination marker for feces followed a 5-d adaptation period. Supplementation with carbadox increased (P < 0.05) energy (E) digestibility and retention relative to pigs fed the NC diet. Overall, supplementation of an antimicrobial did not significantly influence DM, P, and Ca utilization; however, specific antimicrobial supplementation influenced N digestibility and E utilization.

Response of Broiler Chickens to Triticale-Based Diets Supplemented with Microbial Enzymes (1. Growth and Intestinal Function)

A total of 384 day-old male Ross 308 broiler chicks were allocated to 8 dietary treatments to examine the influence of supplementation with xylanase and phytase, individually or in combination, in diets based on two new cultivars of triticale (Bogong and Canobolas). The inclusion of phytase alone in either Bogong or Canobolas diets increased (P < 0.01) feed intake and body weight; however, the ...

Effect of supplemental phytase on phosphorus and protein utilization and performance of broiler chickens fed on eight different wheat varieties were evaluated. The phytate contents of wheat varieties were determined. In a completely randomized design with a 8*3 factorial arrangement, 384 day-old commercial male brioler chicks (HubbardPeterson) were divided into 96 groups, four chicks per group...

Effect of Calcium and Phosphorus Levels (With and Without Phytase Enzymes) on Liver Enzymes and Blood Parameters in Arian Broiler Chickens

An experiment was done for studying different levels of Ca & P (with and without Phytaze enzyme) on liver enzymes and blood parameters in Arian broiler chickens. Two hundred eighty eight broiler chicken were used in a completely randomized design with 6 treatments and 4 replicates with 12 chickens in each floor pen.  Broiler chickens were fed with different levels of Ca and P (with or withou...

True phosphorus digestibility of black-eyed pea and peanut flour without or with phytase supplementation in broiler chickens.

Two studies were conducted to determine the true P digestibility (TPD) of black-eyed pea (BEP) and peanut flour (PNF) and the TPD response to phytase supplementation using the regression method. Sequential diets containing 115, 230, or 345 g of BEP/kg (experiment 1) and 115, 230, or 345 g of PNF/kg (experiment 2) without or with 1,000 units of phytase/kg were formulated. Chromic oxide was added...
